Reception Home Learning
Hi Class 1 and Class 2, we’d like to say a big thank you to all of you who have sent us some pictures of your home learning. We wanted to share some of the brilliant things you have been up to over the past few weeks. We’ll keep updating this page throughout the week with this week’s learning so keep sending the pictures in.
We both hope that you are all well and enjoying the learning challenges that we are setting.

Miss Nidds and Miss Aspden
Lexi – Class 1
Lexi has been doing some great learning all about shapes, shadows and patterns. She’s drawn and labelled 2D shapes, been on a shape hunt around her house and created her own patterns using lego. Great work Lexi!
Everly – Class 2
Everly has been busy practising her phonics with her big sister as well as practising reading words independently. We loved seeing you making a boat with your family too as part of one of our challenges. Well done Everly!
Edwyn – Class 1
Edwyn has done some great learning in maths. He has been practising his addition with double digit numbers as well as building a tower taller than he is. He’s done some brilliant writing and he’s also baked some delicious Millionaires’ Shortbread with his family – they look delicious Edwyn!
Alex – Class 2
Alex has been very busy with his home learning. He’s been practising his phonics sounds, learning about shadows and created a fruit face. He also went on a colour hunt around his house looking for blue items and estimated how many he would find. Great job Alex!
Charice – Class 1
Charice has been working hard with her letter formation and shape drawing as well as enjoying some colouring in and designing her own t-shirt!
Freya – Class 2
Freya has been doing some great investigating all about floating and sinking at home. She’s also been on a hunt to find everything pink in her house and ordered these by size, as well as doing some baking. Well done Freya, great learning!
Koby – Class 1
Koby enjoyed creating his fruit and veg face and very carefully prepared the ingredients for it. He has also been learning all about shadows on the beach and made a ‘sparkly magic potion’ using items from the garden. Well done Koby!
Alayah – Class 2
Alayah has done some brilliant learning about patterns, shadows and animals over the past few weeks. She also created her own musical instruments and played them along to music.
Luna – Class 1
Well done Luna on some great learning over the past few weeks. Luna has been practising her reading and writing, as well as creating a lovely picture of her family and going on a pink colour scavenger hunt!
Izzy – Class 2
Izzy has made a great guitar out of recycling, as well as a fruit and veg face. She also explored how shadows move by drawing around her toys in the garden.
Maverick – Class 1
Maverick has been very busy with his home learning. He’s been learning about shadows, made musical instruments using spaghetti and has practised his writing and numbers. Great work Maverick!
Evie – Class 2
Evie has been busy practising her writing, doing some baking and making a fairy door. Well done Evie – those brownies look delicious!
Phoebe – Class 1
Phoebe has been doing some brilliant learning all about patterns this week, as well as enjoy doing some painting and finding how many different places she could read her book in. Well done Phoebe!
Isla – Class 1
Isla has also had a busy week and has been practising writing words using magnetic letters, finding different shapes around the house and making vegetable faces with her sister. Looks great Isla!

Wow Emily! I love your spaceship, it’s so colourful and what a great idea to put your photograph inside the space helmet. I can see, from the learning you have completed, that you really enjoyed this literacy based topic all about space.

Verity has been busy with her maths this week, drawn a great picture of a rocket and made a beeswax candle. She also found a little mole in her garden, he’s very cute!

Rosie and George made some cheese today, after completing their numeracy challenges.

Poppy wanted to share this photograph of a beautiful mermaid, which she found swimming in her paddling pool. How lucky was Poppy to find a mermaid in her back garden.
Bella, from Class 5
Bella was inspired by Mrs.Pope’s assembly and has made some amazing frozen flowers! She’s also written a great bee poem and diagram and drawn a couple of brilliant self portraits, one inspired by Gustav Klimt, can you guess which one?

A lovely photo of Faith showing some of her work on Noah’s Ark, she really enjoyed this R.E story. She and her mum thought it very topical at the moment as we are all looking forward to much brighter and happier times.

Verity has been enjoying doing arty bits. She had great fun making pebble bees and ladybirds for a game ’noughts and crosses’ and even got Grannie involved by making a special games bag!!
She has been planning her Pirate treasure hunt and has started by drawing her boat and map. She has been talking through her story with me that she is planning to write. Well done Verity!

Luke, from Class 4
Luke has had a fab time enjoying the sunshine this week. He has been playing in his pool, been bodyboarding at the beach and has been doing some great fraction work too! He has also been bug hunting in his garden and creating a super bar chart to show all the different kinds of insects that he has found. Great work, Luke!
Joseph, from Class 4

Ezra has had a super week learning all about mental health awareness. He’s been really busy learning about things that make us feel happy and has decided that being outside and exploring helps him to feel positive. Ezra’s family are having a ‘Feel Good Friday’ party today too, it sounds a lot of fun!

Florence, from Class 4
Florence has been staying active and getting outdoors a lot during the school closures. She has visited the beach, built dens and was even lucky enough to have a treehouse built by her very clever Dad! Florence has also been a great big sister, playing lots with Agatha. It looks like so much fun!

Rosie has had a lovely time practising her dancing, going out on her scooter and having a little pamper with a face mask. It looks like fun!

Olivia has been loving exploring number bonds, money and tally charts in maths! She’s also made an incredible plants information poster and been practising her days of the week!

Harrison, from Class 3
Harrison used the computer to learn about halves and quarters and created a super weather report from last week-
Harrison walked up to Trencrom and loved climbing and jumping around on the big rocks. Harrison and his brother found little caves and spotted St Michaels amount, Penzance, St Ives, Godrevy lighthouse, Hayle and the estuary.
Isla F from Class 3
Isla F has enjoyed recording the weather, and making a wind vane to see which direction that cold wind was blowing in from, earlier in the week. She’s also baked some tasty vegan banana muffins!
Ebon, from Class 3
Ebon has been busy learning his timetables, making flags on VE day and riding his new bike which he was so happy to get riding when his cast came off!
Arlo, from Class 3
Arlo is feeling very proud of his weather report this week… and so he should be – it’s fantastic!
Thomas, from Class 3
Thomas has been enjoying lots of walking and running on the beach the last few days and exploring St George’s Walk looking at the fish and flowers. He has really enjoyed keeping a weather record and drawing lots of happy sunshines.
He has been very good with his reading, phonics and maths. Thomas has also been looking after his sunflower which is growing really fast.

Harrison baked flapjack with me today to send to his great grandad for his birthday and he made a wonderful birthday card, drawing the picture and doing all the writing inside. He also planted 4 types of flowers and 4 types of herbs.
Miles, from Class 3
Miles has completed his weather diary and the challenge I set him to think of adjectives and adverbs to describe the weather! He then used them in a weather poem! Well done Miles! He’s also been adding to his story each day.

Geoffrey, from Class 4
Geoffrey has been learning lots at home this week. He has been exploring the different parts of a plant, practising his handwriting and working on his maths. Super work, Geoffrey – well done!
Ezra, from Class 4
Ezra had a fantastic day celebrating VE Day. He had an indoor street party with his family where they made medals, ration books and danced to music from the 1940s. It looks like so much fun! Great work Ezra, I can’t wait to hear all about it!
Isla, from Class 3
Isla F had a fun week doing coin and leaf rubbings, practising her phonics and writing her short story about a mermaid, called Isla.
James, from Class 3
James is enjoying the weekly challenges – this week he raided his piggy bank to find out about money and to do some coin rubbings. He also explored the different parts of a plant and did some sums in the sand on the beach.
Matteo, from Class 4
Matteo has been learning lots about plants and growing this week. He has practised his English and Maths and also built a boat from recycling. Great work, Matteo!
Harrison, from Class 3
Harrison learning how to use the suffix -ing and learning the value of money by doing some coin rubbings! Well done.
Miles, from Class 3
Miles loved testing out the rockets and writing the experiment up, he said that ‘the big one went the furthest , the little one went round in circles’. He also celebrated VE Day and helped to make mini toad in the holes and bunting!
For their family themed day, they had Chinese day! Miles didn’t think much of Hong-Kong style egg tarts for breakfast but he did like noddles and apple fritters!
KS2 Learning Celebration (8th May 2020)
Each week whilst school is closed I’ll be bringing you a Friday afternoon assembly showcasing some of the diverse and exciting learning that’s being shared by Key Stage 2 on Showbie. As well as the assembly itself, this page also has a gallery where you can see the learning in more detail should you wish.

World first as Penpol get a Be Internet Legends virtual assembly!
On Friday we were lucky enough to be the first school ever to receive a Be Internet Legends virtual assembly. This involved all of our pupils in Key Stage 2 taking part in an interactive assembly with the team from Google and ParentZone.
In the exciting assembly children were reminded of the importance of being Internet Legends through questions and answers, audience participation and lots of other fun activities. Teachers were able to feed back to the presenters in real time as children responded on Showbie, meaning the presenters could then talk to the children and celebrate their learning with them during the assembly.
It was a lot of fun and we’re very lucky at Penpol to have been selected as the first school to experience this. The presenters said afterwards that we were such a lovely school to work with and that they hope you all keep up your Internet Legends learning over the next few weeks.
To help with this Mr Woolcock will be sharing weekly Be Internet Legends online safety activities on Showbie that you can complete with your family at home. They’re quick and fun and may just involve playing a few levels on Interland too…
