Penpol Friends Association: PFA

The PFA (Penpol Friends Association) is a registered fundraising charity for Penpol School. We are a group of parents, carers and teachers who work voluntarily and tirelessly to raise extra funds for our school.

Over the years, the PFA has organised various events, which have contributed towards items like new play equipment for the infants, a trim trail on the school field, a 3D printer, stage lighting, microphones and costumes for our school plays, Year 6 leavers gifts, Santa’s gifts for the children, a cooker for cookery club, kit for our football team and many more things throughout the school.

These are some of the events we organise throughout the year:
– Easter Fayre
– Mini Marathon
– Bingo Night
– Music in the Marquee
– Film Nights
– Summer Fete
– Christmas Fete
– Fundraising Afternoon Teas and Cakes

The success of the PFA depends entirely on the support of parents and carers, families, staff and the community.  Volunteers are always needed to help us at the events.  We welcome new faces, new ideas and new friends.  Our regular meetings are informal and a great way to meet new volunteers and a chance to get involved.

If you are interested, please contact the school and speak to Mrs Wendy Turner (Chair Person of the Penpol Friends Association).

Gift donations by you or your company are helpful all year round for our raffle prizes.

Annual Fundraising Events

Throughout the year we host lots of exciting events, some of which you can read about below.

December

The Christmas Fair is a magical evening with crafts, games, stalls and plenty of festive fun for everyone. Come and meet Santa in his grotto, enjoy a mince pie and some festive music and soak up the atmosphere. An event not to be missed!

The Christmas Fair tends to raise around £1800 a year for the school.

April

A slightly smaller event than its Christmas and Summer counterparts, the Easter Fair is still a huge amount of fun for the whole family. The highlight of this afternoon is the annual Easter Bonnet competition, which sees children of all ages making their own Easter hats to show off to the school.

The Easter Fete tends to raise around £700 a year for the school.

April
June

The Penpol Mini Marathon takes place on a sunny afternoon in the summer and is a chance for parents and carers to join their children in school for a relaxed afternoon of running and sponsorship around the school site.

The Mini Marathon is a highly fun event for both children and spectators and raises lots of money for the school.

June
July

We’ve held three Music in the Marquee evenings over the past few years, with a fourth to come this summer. The evening is a chance to unwind and enjoy some great live music and has proved hugely popular with both adults and children alike.

To date Music in the Marquee has raised over £7,500 for the school.

Each summer we invite the local community to bring stalls, games and attractions to Penpol and hold a family-friendly summer fete on our field and in our marquee. These events are always hugely popular and are a real highlight of the summer.

The Summer Fete tends to raise around £2000 a year for the school.
