Remote Learning at Penpol School

Page last updated on 31st March 2020 at 7am

Welcome to our Remote Learning homepage.  In line with government advice, our school site is temporarily closed to the majority of pupils. However, our school community remains busier than ever.

We’ve been preparing for this potential situation for a while and as such hope that you find this page useful.  Please do check back here regularly as we will update our school community through this Remote Learning Portal.

Below you will see helpful links for each year group, as well as a brief description of how we at Penpol will support your learning remotely during this period of closure.

There is absolutely no need to replicate the school day at home and we strongly advise that you make plenty of time to relax, play and laugh together with your loved ones wherever possible.

We will be here to support you throughout and look forward to welcoming you back to school as soon as possible. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to get in touch if we can help in any way using the FAQs or contact links at the bottom of this page.

Forward Together!

Chris Chislett and the Penpol Team

Virtual Assemblies:

In order to keep a routine we will be holding ‘online assemblies’ at the regular times throughout the week.  Below is our initial schedule of assemblies which we hope to be able to stick to throughout the period of closure.

Monday at 2pm – Key Stage 1 Assembly with Mr Chislett
Monday at 2.30pm – Key Stage 2 Assembly with Mr Chislett

Wednesday at 2pm – Key Stage 1 Assembly with Mrs Pope
Wednesday at 2.30pm – Key Stage 2 Assembly with Mrs Pope

Friday at 2.30pm – Showbie Learning Celebration for Key Stage 2 with Mr Woolcock

These assemblies will be shared via YouTube Live, with a link being available at the top of this page on the morning of an assembly.  You can also rewatch the assemblies afterwards incase you miss the live broadcast.

Technical Support:

We completely understand that this closure and subsequent Remote Learning is a massive change and involves using digital learning in ways that may feel unfamiliar.  Both Mr Woolcock and Paul are on standby to offer help and support if required for all of the online aspects of our Remote Learning plan.

You can email them here or send a message to them on Showbie by joining the class code “7NHQM“.  You can also request a password reminder for any service your child uses by completing the form at the bottom of this page.

When can I speak to my teacher?

Teachers will be available at times throughout the day and will aim to get back to you as soon as possible.  However, they are not generally expected to reply to messages outside of school hours.

I’m not sure how to login to Showbie, can you help?

Every child in Key Stage 2 should have a Showbie account that we have made during the year at school. Their username will be their first and last name written as one word (with no space between – e.g. “johnsmith”) and the password should be ‘1234‘.  Some children will have a number after their username (e.g. “johnsmith1”).

What can I do if I’ve forgotten/lost my login details for a website?

Don’t worry, we can help get those details to you.  Please send Mr Woolcock a password request using the form at the bottom of this page and he will get back to you as soon as he can.
