Roaring Results: Our Dinosaur Eyes!
First, the children watched carefully as Mrs Sara showed them how to make the shape of a dinosaur eye. One child said, “Ah! I need an oval shape — that’s what an eye looks like!”
Next, the children scored the clay and rolled a small sausage shape. They used it to make an eyebrow and fixed it on top of the eye to give it shape.
Then, the children chose the colour they wanted for their own dinosaur eyes. They gently pushed the eye into the clay and pressed some clay over the edge to hold it in place.
After that, it was time to bring the eyes to life. The children used tools to make lines and marks in the clay to add texture. Everyone made their own marks to help the dinosaur skin look real. They also pushed into the clay to make small circle shapes, which looked like scales.
Finally, the children wrote their names on the bottom of their work. Now they need to wait for the clay to dry so they can paint their dinosaur eyes next week.
Well done, Class 4, on your terrifically terrifying dinosaur eye-opening creations!
