Another busy day, but this time at the WPI FIRST LEGO League International Competition. Yes, after four incredibly busy weeks we’ve finally started taking part in the International Final of the FIRST LEGO League competition! Today has been about setting up the pit area, meeting other teams and practicing the robot games ready for the first matches tomorrow. It’s all getting very exciting here!
It’s official: the competition is on and the Jelly Friends have just bought their energy, dance moves and theme tune to the stage at the WPI FIRST LEGO League International Event!
This is such a proud moment for us as their teachers. They’ve worked so incredibly hard to get to this stage and seeing them taking their place amongst the very very best teams in the world brings a bit of a tear to the eye!

What do humpback whales, gigantic cheesecakes and green monsters all have in common? They’re all things the Jelly Friends have seen today as they’ve been exploring the city of Boston and its surrounding coastline! Check out today’s adventure below…
This afternoon we explored the iconic Fenway Park baseball stadium and had a private tour behind the scenes. We saw some of the most expensive seats in the stadium and learnt about its interesting history and some secret facts about the ballpark. We were even allowed to sit in the fancy media box to see what the press get to see during a game.
What a busy day! Fighting the jet lag the Jellies had three fun experiences today to make the most of their time in Boston.
We started with a creative art workshop at the Apple Store before heading to a fascinating walking tour of Boston. We then finished up at the MIT Museum to see all of the incredible technologies and advancements from the world famous university.

From robotic arms to artificial intelligence and the origins of Scratch to the most impressive optical illusions, the MIT Museum really had it all! The Jellies loved exploring all of the exhibits and exhibitions this afternoon and as you’ll see from their Video Diary they haven’t stopped talking about it!
“This afternoon we went around Boston with a tour guide who was dressed up a bit like a pirate (but I think we was meant to be one of the founding fathers!) and we explored lots of landmarks and buildings around the city. It was very interesting!” – Evangeline
