Cornish Language

Go Cornish

To encourage children to be proud of our Cornish heritage, we signed up to the ‘Go Cornish’ programme in 2023.  With lots of resilience and creativity, our school community worked hard towards the bronze award.  This involved embedding the Cornish language, culture and heritage into our school community.  Recently we were presented with a beautiful plaque in recognition and celebration of our amazing teamwork.

We began by introducing simple phrases in Cornish throughout the day, bilingual signage to some areas, introducing some Cornish into our curriculum and ensuring we explore the local environment.

We are continuing to introduce Cornish into our routines, building our vocabulary.  Here are some Cornish phrases your children have been using in school.  Mar pleg (please) encourage them to use them at home also.
