Overall Infant Star of the Week

Class 3 – Year 1 – Dakota

Our star of the week is Dakota. Dakota is a quiet and conscientious member of our class and we all think she is a superstar! She always shows great kindness to everyone in Class 3 and helps adults in school every day by tidying away playtime toys. Dakota listens carefully in class and has done some super Writing about the Snail and the Whale over this half term using time words and adjectives to make her Writing interesting. Well done Dakota, you are a pleasure to have in Class 3.

Class 7 – Year 3 – Remy

Remy is a star every week. He puts 100% effort into whatever he is doing. He is a creative writer with extremely neat handwriting and presentation. Remy likes to challenge himself especially with his reading. He has been particularly good at learning and applying new mathematical ideas and is always willing to help others. He extends his learning at home; creating models, posters and even taking trips to the theatre.

Remy is helpful, organised and a reliable member of the class. His peer chose him to be class councillor after he delivered a well thought out speech. Remy is always keen to share what he has been doing in these meetings and can confidently talk about this in front of the whole class.

Class 2 – Reception – Keira 

Class 2’s star of the week is Keira.  Keira is a very kind and helpful member of our class and always has a smile for those around her.  This week, Keira has done some great learning in maths by using her knowledge of numbers in our money work.  She is making great progress in her reading and has really impressed me this week with how far she has come in her phonics.  Well-done Keira, on a brilliant week

Class 4 –Year 1 –Anya

Big congratulations to Anya. She is Star of the Week in Class 4. Anya has produced some fantastic descriptive writing this week using excellent adjectives and verbs. She changed the well-known story, ‘The Snail and the Whale’, to create a new story about a whale and a starfish. Great-writing Anya. Well done.

Class 5 star of week is Caitlyn

Tilly consistently works hard and to the best of her ability.  She has done really well in maths this week, adding fractions and completing way more sums than expected. She listens carefully in lessons and grasps new concepts quickly.  She has a very mature attitude to her work and really enjoys a mathematical challenge. Well done Tilly, Happy Birthday and keep up the good work.

Tilly has shown a great level of maturity this week whilst also putting her all into her work and being a regular contributor to class discussions. She is a great role model for others to look up to. Well done, Tilly!

Sam has worked extremely hard in all areas and now regularly has his hand up to engage in classroom discussions or give his thoughts. Overall Infant Star of the Week

Class 3 – Year 1 – Enya 

The trophy winner in class 3 this week is Enya. She excels in all subjects especially reading and mathematics. She puts effort into PE lessons and takes care with art work. It has been a pleasure having her in my class as she is polite and helpful.

Class 10 – Year 4 – Reuben

I am delighted to give Rueben overall start of the week. He is an extremely knowledgable child and always offers very sophisticated thoughts to any discussion. Reuben certainly keeps me on my toes and I always look forward to our lighthearted debates.

Reuben has managed to read The Order of the Phoenix is under two weeks and even managed to pass the quiz with flying colours! This has seen Reuben reach the top of the class’s reading challenge. Well done 🙂

Class 2 – Reception – Ebbie

Class 2’s star of the week is Ebbie.

We have all been super impressed this week with the learning Ebbie has been doing in phonics and her reading. Ebbie has been doing some great learning blending her sounds together to write words and is now starting to write some captions on her whiteboard. She has been doing some great work with her learning partner and has shown she is a kind friend both in the class and out in the playground. Well-done Ebbie on a fantastic week in class 2!

This weeks star of the week is Lucas.  Lucas is a very hard worker and has achieved great things in his learning this week.  He has done some wonderful exciting writing using powerful adjectives and verbs.  Well-done Lucas!

Class 5 star of week is James. James has been working really hard this term. He is listening to instructions, is focused on his work and achieving high standards in all topics. Class 8’s star of the week is Lily. Lily has show tremendous resilience this week in her maths work.  She always gives 100% in all her studies and never gives up.  She is a pleasure to have in class.  Well-done Lily keep up the great work!

Class 9 – Year 4 – Rhys

Rhys is like having a human calculator in class. He has been working really hard both at school and home to learn his times tables and improve his mental arithmetic.   He is amazing at 3 minutes maths and speed tables and this is really helping with the more formal written calculations we are learning in class at the moment. Well done Rhys, keep up the good work

Rebecka is extremely hard working and takes great pride in her learning.  Her improvement in Maths is testament to her perseverance, having found the written multiplication method a struggle to begin with. Her work is also incredibly well presented.

I have been very pleased with Emma’s attitude to learning recently. She has been working harder and getting more involved with class discussions by putting her hand up to contribute with more confidence. I have been pleased with her efforts in Maths and English. Class 2 – Reception – Isla 

Overall infant star of the week is Isla. We have chosen Isla this week because of her brilliant attitude in all areas of her learning. Isla comes into school every day with a smile and always shows that she is a kind friend to both children and adults in the class. This week Isla has done some great learning in phonics; I was very impressed to see all the words with ‘ee’ that you came up with and in PE she showed she was a great leader as she organised her team during our games. Well done Isla, keep being the happy and kind person you are!!

Class 8 – Year 3 – Austin

This week’s star of the week is awarded to Austin.  He has such an inquisitive mind and spends time at home reflecting on his learning and researching topics such as Ancient Egypt.  A few weeks ago, Austin brought in his incredible sculpture of an Ancient Egyptian pyramid.  He clearly loves learning and diligently and enthusiastically brings his love of learning into school every day.  He has made great progress with his handwriting and is trying hard in every aspect of his school life.  Well done Austin.

Class 1 – Reception – Henry 

Henry  is our star of the week. His reading has come along beautifully and has now started on accelerated reader. His knowledge of numbers is amazing too. He is working well within his early learning goal already and is expected to exceed his early learning goal for Maths. Henry has a great knowledge and understanding of the world. He made a working circuit this week and has a great knowledge of space and planets. Super work this week Henry.

The star of the week in Class 3 is Verity Cock. She is very quiet but always listens, and tries hard in all lessons.  Her handwriting is immaculate and she managed 100% in the accelerated reading test.  Very well done Verity!

Class 6 –Year 2–Drake

The star of the week in Class 6 is Drake.

Drake is a well-mannered, helpful and friendly young man who always gives 100% towards his learning. This term, Drake has been working extremely hard during the English lessons and he is now demonstrating that he is able to write structured sentences that contain some of the required punctuation for Year 2. He is a fantastic listener and is always happy to share his thoughts and ideas with others.

Class 7 – Year 3 –Ellie 

Ellie is Class 7’s star of the week. She works extremely hard, listens carefully and tries to complete tasks to the best of her ability. All of Ellie’s effort is paying off, she has completed a number of reading quizzes successfully and has learnt some of her times tables. Ellie also extends her learning at home; she has made an interesting Scarcophagus filled with treasures, baked Egyptian cookies and always completes her spelling homework. She is a kind and helpful member of the class. Well done Ellie, keep up the good work.

Over the past few weeks, Maison has really impressed me. He has adopted a fantastic attitude towards his learning. He is attempting really challenging problems in Maths and is beginning to learn all of his times tables. Within his writing he is generating some fantastic ideas. Maison does all of this with a big smile on his face and is always eager to improve.

Star of the Week this week in Class 12 is Charlie.  What a week Charlie has had.  We have been learning about Space and reading The Jamie Drake Equation about the chances of alien life in space.  Charlie has used his amazing mind to contribute to all the discussions we have been having and then to cap it all has produced the most fabulous piece of writing in the neatest handwriting that Mr Wise has seen in a long time.  For this, Charlie is a well-deserved winner of this week’s Star of the Week.

Year 6 star of the week this week goes to Miranda

Miranda is a go to person, if you need something- go to Miranda. Miranda goes about her daily life with a very diligent attitude and a quiet manner. Her attitude in class is second to none, with each piece of writing, maths work or work within the wider curriculum 100% effort and maximum care is evident. Miranda’s passion for learning and want to improve is reflected in her homework where she is often near the top of the ‘Mathletics’ leaderboard.

Overhall Infant Star of the Week

Class 6 – Year 2 – Penny

The overall star of the week in KS1 is Penny Learny from Class 6.

This term Penny has returned to school with a very positive learning attitude. She has been working really hard during the numeracy lessons and has demonstrated great perseverance, whilst learning about a selection of graphs and recording information. Penny has also started to display an increase in her stamina by successfully completing most of the Learning Objectives set.

Class 13 – Year 6 – Mya 

My star if the week this week is Mya Vigus. Mya has been working extremely hard in the last few weeks and has returned for 2019a different child, a child who is extremely keen to learn, improve and more impressively, ask for help. Whether it is English or Maths, Mya is giving 100% effort and is staring to real the rewards of her efforts, as mentioned Mya was quite reluctant to ask for help, however now she has the confidence to ask her general confidence has began to increase as she is achievement more success in the classroom.

Class 2 – Reception – Lowenna

Star of the week from class 2 is Lowenna Jose. Lowenna has had a great start back to school after the holidays and always sets a great example for other children in our class. She is always very helpful and kind, often volunteering to do a job or to help. This week Lowenna has done some great blending in our phonics lessons and has been working hard on her doubling in maths. Well-done Lowenna!

Ayveeahnah has done some fantastic work in class 4 this week. Her handwriting has been very neat and she has tried really hard in class.  Ayveeahnah also did some maths independently showing her number bonds to 10 using different ways including the part-hold model.  Well-done Ayveehnah.

Josh is an incredibly conscientious and determined student.  He always tries hard at everything he does, asking for help if unsure.

Class 14 – Year 6 – Nathan

I was really impressed with Nathan’s practical skills when making his Morse code machine recently. He made it all independently and took great care with the design and finish. I have also been pleased with his understanding in maths and he has been enjoying the work on adding and subtracting fractions. In English, he is now producing more writing and his presentation of work is improving. Keep it up Nathan!

Class 14 – Year 6 – Abigail

I have been very impressed with Abigail’s attitude to learning all term. She has been working hard and getting more involved with class discussions, putting her hand up to contribute with more confidence. She has recently won a prize for her artwork at school with her winter scene piece. However, Abigail also has art -work displayed at the Tate gallery, St. Ives, in which she was a prizewinner in a recent competition. People were even bidding for her work! She has been keen to help in all areas and was a super volunteer at the Christmas fete. Great work Abi!

Class 1 – Reception – Hallie

Hallie is the star of the week. She has done some amazing writing this week, especially some news writing where she wrote about going to the park. I love the way Hallie listens really well in class, follows instructions and works really hard at everything she does. Hallie wrote some great addition sentences this week too and is working hard to recognise her teen numbers. Hallie is really kind to her friends and comes to school with a lovely smile everyday. The star of the week in Class 6 is Jasmine.

Jasmine is a friendly and polite young lady who always offers to help out around the class and support her friends. Recently Jasmine has been working extremely hard to learn her words for the Christmas production and it was through great determination and commitment that she was able to stand on the stage and read her words aloud with great confidence and presence.

Stellan is proving to be a reliable member of class 7. He works hard, listens carefully and completes tasks independently. You only have to ask Stellan once and he will be getting on quietly and sensibly with what he has been asked to do. When you make suggestions to improve his work, he will do his best to apply them to further develop his learning. He is a good friend to others and plays and works well with his classmates. Lucy is someone who I could easily give this award to every week. Everyday she comes into school with a huge smile on her face and an extremely infectious giggle to match. It never fails to brighten the day! Over these last few weeks Lucy has proven to be an efficient member of the class, completing tasks quickly and with pride. Lucy is also eager to help her fellow class-mates and always looks out for them!

This week’s star of the week in Class 12 is Zannah.

Zannah has had an amazing few weeks in Class 12.  She has worked quietly and extremely hard at everything that she has been asked to do and has really begun to find her voice in class.  This has meant that her work has been outstanding, especially her writing which is beautifully presented and a joy to read.  Zannah is an absolute star of the class who always sets a great example to everyone else and this is a well-deserved award.  Well-done Zannah.

This weeks star of the week is Autumn. The older children have spent a lot of time practicing for the KS2 carol concert. Autumn has a beautiful singing voice and always sings with a smile on her face. An infectious smile which she brings to all aspects of her school life along with exceptional amounts of hard work and enthusiasm.

Evan is our overall star of the week. He is exceptional in all ways. His speech and understanding is well beyond his age. He reads, writes and explains mathematical problems with ease. He is also a kind and thoughtful friend to many in the class. He is strong and controlled in gymnastics and is a super hula hooper !  Well-done Evan I know you will keep it up.

The Star of the week in Class 12 this week is Jessica.

Jessica is usually to be found with her head down working at a tremendous pace.  She loves working and just doesn’t seem to stop.  Not only is she a fantastic worker but she also is amazing at helping others – she always has her hand up to contribute to discussion in class and is never short of a very interesting question or two.  To top it all, she does all of this with an amazing smile on her face.  Well-done Jessica.

Zach has had a great first term in year 4.  He listens really carefully, is often one of the first people ready to start his learning and has been used on numerous occasions as an example of how to behave.  We have been particularly impressed with some of his writing. He has been really creative and has used some really exciting vocabulary, especially in our poetry writing. Well-done Zach.

I have been very impressed with Harvey’s attitude to learning this week. He has been working harder and getting more achieved during lesson time. I have been pleased with his effort in maths and he has been enjoying the work on fractions, even asking for extra homework around the subject. He worked well during the science investigation and likes working scientifically. Harvey is always helpful in class. A great week Harvey – keep it up!

Class 4 – Year 1 – Rosie

The overall star of the week in the infants this week is Rosie from class 4. Rosie has really impressed me this week. Her listening in class is exceptional. Whenever I ask a question, Rosie is one of the first people to have their hands up. Whether she is explaining the difference between portrait artists, Picasso and Da Vinci or telling me about the continents of the world, I can rely on Rosie to be listening and working hard. I have also notice a big improvement in her writing. Well-done Rosie. What a super star!

Overall Star of the Week this year is Ronnie: Ronnie consistently tries his best and is a great role model for the rest of the class. Class 1 – Reception – Merryn

Merryn is our star of the week. She has grown massively in confidence and comes into class every morning with a lovely smile on her face. Her writing is coming on amazingly. Her handwriting is very good; she is linking sounds to letters and is starting to write words and captions with help. Merryn is amazing at her numbers too. She wrote numbers to 18 and loved spotting numbers on our number hunt around the school. Merryn’s reading has come on leaps and bounds and now there is no stopping her. Fabulous effort, Merryn. Well done.

Alfie  is the star of the week in class 3. He is always enthusiastic, helpful and polite. He works very hard in all subjects with excellent results. The star of the week in Class 6 is Piran. Piran is a kind, polite and friendly young who always gives 100% towards his learning. This week, during a phonics session, Piran demonstrated that he has the ability  to support his peers with their learning and it was a pleasure watching  him do this with such a positive attitude. Piran has also been working very hard during the numeracy lessons and is now able to identify a series of fractions from shapes and amounts

Over these last few weeks Fin has real effort in all aspects of the school life. He has learnt to channel his enthusiasm into his work and is always the first to offer an answer or opinion in a class discussion. These opinions and answers are always well justified and Fin can clearly explain his thought patterns. Fin is also an extremely caring individual and will help others without being asked.

Carys is our star of the week. She has done some lovely writing in class this week and continues to practise her writing at home too. She is linking sounds to letters, writing words and is starting to write captions. Carys is the most kind, caring and sharing person. She takes care of all her class friends and is always there to help a friend in need. Carys listens beautifully, loves to get involved in class activities and is all round amazing. Class 10 – Year 4 – Riley

I am delighted to give the Junior Star of the Week to Riley. These past few weeks have seen Riley coming into school with a completely different attitude. He is constantly trying his best and is becoming an active member of the classroom. This week Riley has challenged himself, tackling hard maths concepts and has written a stunning poem. It is amazing to see Riley’s confidence and the smile on his grow.

Class Star of the Week

Class 2 – Reception – Kobain

Our star of the week is Kobain.

Kobain is a kind and caring member of class 2 who grows in confidence every day. This week Kobain has done some great work with his learning partner and has been playing nicely with others in the afternoon. In phonics, he is confidently recognising his sounds and is now blending them together to quickly read and write words. Well done Kobain, you are a superstar!

Class 4 –Year 1 – Scarlett

This week’s star of the week in Class 4 is Scarlett. I am so pleased with Scarlett’s spelling and work in phonics. I asked her to practice as much as she could at home and the result in last week’s spelling test was outstanding. Fantastic work Scarlett. Keep up the good work!

Class 5 –Year 2– Louis

Class 5 star of week is Louis. Louis is a lovely, kind and gentle boy who also happens to be great at maths and pretty good at English too!  He can be a bit of a worrier but he is really trying to overcome this and be a bit braver when tackling something new, so well done Louis, keep up the great work and remember to always ask for help if you need it.

Class 8 – Year 3 – Erin

Mr Jones and Mrs Connors are delighted to say that this week’s star is Erin.  Erin loves writing, and brings her wonderful stories into school to share with the class.  This week, she wrote a fantastic story about a biscuit thief.  It was very funny and she enjoyed reading it to her teachers.  Erin tries so hard in every area of her school life and is such a lovely friend to many in the class.  Keep writing Erin, you’re wonderful.

Class – Year 4 – Kiki

Kiki consistently works hard and to the best of her ability.  She has produced some beautiful written work this term filled with lovely descriptive language and exciting vocabulary.  She listens carefully in lessons and grasps new concepts quickly.  She has a very mature attitude to her work and enjoys a challenge.  Well done Kiki, keep up the good work.

Class 11 –Year 5 – Oscar

Oscar is an incredibly helpful and has a positive attitude to his learning every day. His work reflects this and he continually pushes himself by choosing the more difficult challenges.

Class 14 –Year 6 – Jacob

Jacob has been so passionate about our topic work ‘Wartime Britain’ that he has brought in many pieces of homework from models and artwork to artifacts and books. He has researched the topic in great detail and brings much to our class discussions. He has a great attitude to work and wants to achieve and improve in his learning. He has been impressive in maths where he has taken on many greater depth problem-solving challenges. One of the most significant things I have noticed is Jacob’s kindness. He has a lovely manner with all his peers and really thinks about others. A real star!

Junior Star of the Week

Class 7 – Year 3 – Agnes

I am very pleased with the effort that Agnes has been putting into all her work. She has been working hard to improve her reading, spelling and to learn her times tables. Agnes is using her pen confidently and producing extremely neat handwriting. She has brought in loads of extra homework, including some beautiful drawings. She is a friendly and helpful member of the class.

Class 4 –Year 1 – Skye

A great start to the term Skye.  Skye has done some fantastic maths this week. She tries really hard and never gives up. Well-done Skye keep up the fantastic work.

Rafe has settled in to her new class brilliantly. She is working hard and trying her best in all subjects and producing some lovely work. Well done Rafaella, keep up the great effort.

Class 8 – Year 3 – Cove

This week, Year 3 Star of the Week is awarded to Cove.  Cove is a model pupil who bounces into class every day with an excellent attitude to learning.  Cove has worked extremely hard in writing this week and performed well in science and maths.  Cove enthusiasm for learning is infectious and he is very helpful and positive towards his fellow peers.    Well-done Cove.

Class 9 – Year 4 – Ivan

Ivan has settled into class 9 really well.  He works really hard and is trying his best. He makes interesting contributions to discussions on the topics we are studying and has already completed extra research at home relating these topics.  He has brought in books and drawings.  Well done Ivan a great start to the year.

Class 11–Year 5 – Luke

Luke has proven in the short time that we have known him that he is an astute, bright and attentive individual with his own mind. He joins in terrifically well with class debates and is an asset to the class.

Class 14 –Year 6 – Leja

I have been very impressed with Leja’s attitude to learning since the beginning of term. She has been working hard and getting more involved with class discussions, putting her hand up to contribute with more confidence. I have been pleased with her efforts in maths and her understanding of place value. She has been trying hard with writing and really wants to improve her work. A great start to the year Leja. Keep it up!

Class 14 – Year 6 – Kian

Kian has worked extremely hard in all areas and always has his hand up to engage in classroom discussions or give his thoughts. He has a great attitude to work and wants to achieve in his learning. He has been very impressive in maths where he has taken on many greater depth problem-solving challenges and shown good logic and skills in the process. I have been very pleased with such a positive start to the year. A wonderful start Kian!

Class 3 –Year 1 – Sienna

The star of the week in class 3 is Sienna. She is always polite and helpful, a good friend to others and always tries her best in all lessons. I am very glad she has joined my class and I am sure she is going achieve great things this year.

The star of the week in Class 6 is Ethan. This week Ethan has been demonstrating great mathematical skills, whilst working on place value and locating 2 digit numbers on a number line. He has also shown that he is capable of explaining his methods of calculation to the class. Well-done Ethan, you have had a great start to Year 2

Ruby is class 7’s star of the week. Ruby has settled into her new class very well. She is a friendly, helpful child who listens carefully and gets on with different tasks sensibly and to the best of her ability. She has completed several times table challenges already, brought in extra homework and is using her pen confidently in her written work.Well-done Ruby. What a great start to the year. I am delighted to give class 10’s first star of the week to Callum. Callum arrives to school every day with a big smile on his face and an enthusiastic attitude. During every lesson Callum is eager to take part and completes his work with great pride. It’s brilliant to see!

This week’s start of the week in Class 12 is Charley who has had a fantastic start to the year and has worked extremely hard to make sure that his handwriting is the best that it can be.   Because of this, his work in his books is beautifully presented and shows that he takes great pride in what he does.  Well-done Charlie and keep up the good work.

The star of the week this week for Class 13 is Summer-May. Summer only joined the school last week but has already settled in and started to display a wonderful attitude to learning. Summer has started her life at Penpol very positively, well-done Summer. Keep it up!
